Internship Program

The following details apply to all internships:

Open to: Qualified college students & recent graduates

All Interns must complete a half –day training on Saturday, June 9, time TBD.

DATES/HOURS: Camps run June 11 to August 15, Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm. Staff and interns must arrive by 8:45am (8:30am on Mondays) and stay until 3:15pm (potentially 4pm on showcase days). Opportunities for extra hours may be offered. July 4-6 off. Interns who can commit to entire summer schedule will be prioritized over those with schedule conflicts. Requests for days/weeks off must be discussed with YouTheatre Director in advance and will be considered on a case by case basis.

PAY: $12-20/hour, based on level of education and experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Theatre experience, ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, excellent communication skills, works well with or eager to learn skills for working with young people (ages 5-18), research and organizational skills, creativity, attention to detail, self-motivated,

EDUCATION:

SPECIFIC TO THIS INTERNSHIP (on top of those listed above for all internships): Ability to teach or eagerness to learn to teach choreography/blocking/acting (dependent on experience and camps/classes assigned to teach).

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE GAINED: Teaching experience, shadow/team-teach with experienced instructors & theatre professionals, lesson-planning, working with kids of all ages and abilities, choreography and directing experience, team-teaching experience, opportunity to build versatility in all areas of production (tech, costuming, stage management), day to day running of a successful arts education program.

 

ARTS ADMINISTRATION:

SPECIFIC TO THIS INTERNSHIP (on top of those listed above for all internships): Able to work with parents and students, desire to learn how a busy arts education program runs.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE GAINED: Non-profit management, (intern) team management, business management experience, client relations, training in registration programs, camp planning, logistics and research, day to day running of a successful arts education program.

 

STAGE MANAGEMENT:

SPECIFIC TO THIS INTERNSHIP (on top of those listed above for all internships): Experience in stage management and/or technical theatre, ability to call a show.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE GAINED: Opportunities to stage manage camp performances on Egyptian Theatre stage, opportunities to learn some of the skills of the Education and Arts Administration Internships, learning from experienced theatre professionals, opportunities to build versatility in all areas of theatre (education, design, producing, directing).
