About the play:

Inspired by the real-life unsung heroines of WWII...

The first women ever to fly in combat flew for the Soviet Union during the Second World War, they were known as the Night Witches. They flew in outdated planes made of canvas and wood, and dropped their bombs on their German enemy every fifteen minutes during the night to keep them from sleeping. Using movement, song, lyrical spoken word, and dialogue we follow these brave young women through one evening during the war.

About the playwright:

Rachel Bublitz is an award winning and internationally produced playwright. She's thrilled to be working on her second commissioned play from the Egyptian YouTheatre, "The Night Witches." Last year the Egyptian YouTheatre produced the World Premiere of "Cheerleaders VS. Aliens" which has just been published with Pioneer Drama Service. For more, visit RachelBublitz.com.

Those wishing to be involved in the world premiere production in August, 2019 as part of the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival, are highly encouraged to also participate in the one-week workshop of the play with playwright, Rachel Bublitz, and director, Alexandra Harbold. All teens & college students are welcome to join us for workshop regardless of whether or not they plan on auditioning. However, priority casting will go to those who participate in the New Play Workshop.
